NEWS ON TRASH SERVICE CHANGES EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 1, 2019
The new trash company is FCC Environmental Trash service. Curbside garbage, yard waste and bulk collection will change effective October 1, 2019. Some basic information follows; however, prior to the change please feel free to call the Solid Waste Authority at 561.697.2700 or visit SWA.org.
Starting October 1, 2019, all garbage must be placed inside the cart. You will be able to purchase a second cart, if needed, for a one-time cost of $65 and no additional collection or disposal charges. The waste hauler will be fully responsible for the repair/replacement of the cart. SWA encourages residents to use their current garbage cans for containerizing yard waste. Garbage will be collected twice a week. They have not confirmed if trash days will change, so we assume at this time the days will be the same.
The collection of bulk items like appliances, furniture and large household items that do not fit in your cart will be provided one day per week and limited to no more than three (3) items. If you have more than three (3) bulk items, contact SWA Customer Service at 561.697-2700 for an estimate to have the additional items removed.
Important New Yard Waste Ordinance: Residents who place piles that exceed the maximum 6 cubic yard weekly limit curbside will have no portion of the pile serviced and will be responsible for removal. Piles that exceed 6 cubic yards will not be serviced. They will be tagged by the hauler and it will be the resident's responsibility to arrange for removal, either by hauling it to a permitted disposal facility, making arrangements with a private hauler, or contacting the SWA for an estimate at $8 per cubic yard. Any preexisting piles exceeding the 6 cubic yard limit will not be eligible for collection as of October 1, 2019.
Debis other than palm fronds and tree branches, such as leaves, tree and hedge trimmings, pine needles, etc. must be containerized, and tree branches and palm fronds should be neatly stacked in a pile that does not exceed 6 cubic yards. Branches should be cut into pieces that are no more than 6 feet long, 6 inches in diameter, and weigh no more than 50 pounds each. Palm fronds can be any length.
